Here are 11 steps to improve your life:

1. Open your mind to other perspectives.
We live in a diverse world, and today’s communication technologies often force us to interact with people whose perspectives on life are far different from our own. Rather than approaching others with misgivings, remember that diversity is what gives our world its vitality.

2. Commit to equity and wisdom.
A society in which people treat each other with respect and fairness often gains from increased collaboration and communal support. In personal and professional interactions be sure to stay committed to equity and wisdom as a way to improve relations and optimize opportunities for success.

3. Make time for good health.
Exercising isn’t easy, and although work isn’t necessarily much easier, we tend to drop exercise in favor of shorter-term objectives. Health is a worthwhile long-term commitment that can pay amazing dividends over time. Even on your busiest days, try to fit in at least a half an hour of physical activity.

4. Learn new things.
There are many practical reasons why learning new things is beneficial. New information keeps the mind active, deepens your existing knowledge, and focuses your interactions with others. Even if it’s just reading a book or picking up a new hobby, learning is healthy.

5. Get your sleep.
The old adage about the benefits of being “early to sleep and early to rise” may not hold true if your job makes you hold unconventional hours, but the basic sentiment may still apply. If you want to be at the top of your capabilities, don’t neglect your body’s need for restful sleep.

6. Temper your expectations of others.
The only person you can control is yourself. Try not to let your disappointments with others embitter you or stop you from pursuing your own goals.

7. Spend more time with family and friends.
Good relationships can be life’s greatest gift. Don’t take your family and friends for granted as they can enrich almost every aspect of your life.

8. Listen to others.
Sometimes the biggest favor you can do for another person is simply to provide them with a sympathetic ear. This is a great way to earn and keep friends and to further endear yourself to your loved ones. It also expands your own perspective.

9. Volunteer.
Even if it’s only for an hour or two per week, lending time to volunteer opportunities expands your horizons, gives you a welcome sense of satisfaction, provides useful experience, and betters your community.

10. Do what you love.
There’s nothing truly stopping you from devoting yourself to the things you really want to do. Life is about pursuing our dreams and making a positive impact on the world according to our unique abilities.

11. Be smart with money.
While saving can help you build a long-term nest egg, learning how to master risk is crucial in optimizing your financial future. Be sure to gain financial education as early as possible. It might just be the best investment you’ll ever make.
